In a bizarre twist of events, Mindy McCready reportedly completed an anti-suicide video one day before taking her own life. According to reports published on Feb.19 by Radar Online, Celebitchy.com, and E Online, and other media outlets, the country singer worked feverishly on a suicide prevention video with her friend, Danno Hanks, a private investigator, which they completed the day before Mindy’s tragic death.
In an interview with E Online Danno said he thought Mindy urgently wanted him to complete the music video for her new song, “ I’ll See You Yesterday”, as a tribute to her boyfriend, music producer David Wilson who committed suicide just weeks ago.
Mindy’s Urgency to Complete the Suicide Prevention Tape
Danno stated that four or five days prior to Mindy McCready’s suicide, she began talking to her every day. She expressed an urgent need to the song “ I’ll See You Yesterday” released, which was produced by her recently deceased boyfriend David, and written by one of her fans.
“She urgently wanted to get this one song released, but to use it as an anti-suicide public service announcement.
She said she wanted to put together this video to help people deal when someone had suffered a suicide in their life.
She sent me these still photos of her and David. I put the thing together and they were timed to be in sync with the music. At the end there was a message telling people who are contemplating suicide to get in touch with suicideispreventable.org.”

Danno’s Last Conversation with Mindy Before Her Death
Danno says he finished the video Friday night, posted it on YouTube, and sent Mindy a private link.
Mindy sent him an e-mail saying:
“Beautiful. It made me cry.”
On Saturday, Danno spoke with Mindy on the phone for what would prove to be the last time.
When he asked Mindy when she wanted him to release the video to the public. She told him:
“You’ll know when.”
The next day Mindy was found dead of a self-inflicted gunshot wound in the same spot on the porch where her boyfriend shot himself just weeks before.

The Message Danno Hanks Failed to Get
Danno speaks of how upbeat and positive Mindy was in the days preceding her death. She seemed really excited about releasing her suicide prevention tape.
In retrospect, Danno now feels that Mindy was reaching out to him to send a message that she was considering suicide herself, and bitterly regrets not picking up on the signs.
“I thought she was talking about sending a message about suicide for David's death but this is unbelievable. She was sending me a message. I wish I had been more alert to what it was.
She was literally having me write her suicide note. If I had known, I would have made sure someone was there with her all the time”.
Danno Hanks concluded by saying:
"I just didn't think she would do this. She had two kids to live for. "I still can't fathom the whole thing.”
