The Nashville Star Mindy McCready was found dead this morning in Arkansas. Another tragic whisky lullaby in a hard life. She leaves behind two sons. The mode of death? A self inflicted gunshot wonund. She was only 37 years old and leaves behind two sons.
This was not the first time she attempted suicide. In fact, she has had at least three other attempts since 2005. When she spoke with the press in 2010, she stated "It's a giant whirlwind of chaos all the time."
Her longtime boyfriend David Wilson died a month ago as well, father of the youngest child. He too shot himself on the same porch of the home that they shared. He was her "Soul" mate she stated on a recent airing of NBC's the Today Show. "The more suffering I go through, the greater character I'll have." McCready stated.
In 1994 she hit the Nashville scene in her teens, mostly working with Karaoke hits at that time. She landed a contract then in 1994 with BNA records.
She hit the charts with songs like "Guys Do It All The Time." and "Ten Thousand Angels" the album also sold over 2 million copies.
According to sources she might have attempted suicide because she was struggling with substance abuse again and fighting for custody of her children.
The children remain in foster care as of right now. McCready's ex-boyfriend and father of her oldest child reported that he has recently tried to gain full custody of their child since she went back to rehab. Billy McKnight, was arrested on charges of attempted murder in 2005 when McCready said he beat her and choked her. In 2008, McCready stated that she had an affair with baseball plater Roger Clemens, who has denied it all. She stated that they were going at it when she was only 15 and he was 28, and married. Of course, he denied it still. According to family members, McCready had booze and pills, that is what got the best of her.
