Mindy Kaling, comedienne, as well as star and creator of Fox’s “The Mindy Project,” appeared in her first “Vogue” spread for the fashion mag’s April 2014 issue as reported via E! on Thursday. Kaling talks “dressing with confidence” and confesses she “doesn’t want to be skinny.” Mindy fans believe she should have made ”Vogue’s” cover instead of Kim Kardashian and Kanye West.

Dressed in a Dries Van Nouten skirt and blouse ensemble, accessorized with Oscar de la Renta pumps, Mindy Kaling poses for her first “Vogue” profile. The 34-year-old actress that shot to fame for her stint on “The Office” is not your typical “Vogue” model. At five feet four inches tall, Mindy’s dress size varies around a 10, which doesn't stop the funny woman who has no desire to be skinny.

There’s a whole list of things I would probably change about myself. For example, I’m always trying to lose fifteen pounds. But I never need to be skinny. I don’t want to be skinny. I’m constantly in a state of self-improvement, but I don’t beat myself up over it.”

Whereas many women flaunt their thin frames, Mindy told “Vogue” that is when she covers up her physique.

When I’m at my thinnest, I tend to wear things that don’t show off my body. But when I’m bigger, I’ll go body-con, which comes from a place of, ‘this is my perimeter, in case you were wondering if I was actually much bigger.’

Playful fashion that expresses her personality from Miu Miu and Marni are some of Mindy's favorites, and she chooses Roland Mouret, Antonio Berardi, and David Meister for more formal affairs. Kaling admittedly favors “bold prints, short skirts and slinky jersey,” yet doesn’t want to be “fearful” when dressing in public.

It’s really tempting not to take chances. But I don’t want to be fearful. I don’t want my tombstone to say, she hid her imperfections well on the red carpet.

Major controversy erupted after Kim and Kanye appeared on the “Vogue” cover that features Mindy Kaling, a fact not overlooked by fans of the comedienne. Comments under the E! News report vary from Mindy should have been on April’s cover to the fashion magazine has crumbled with the Wests, with most showing support for Kaling’s confidence and curves.
