Mindreaver from "Born of the Gods"
Wizards of the Coast

Mindreaver is one of the newest "Born of the Gods" spoilers revealed today Jan 15, 2014 in a tweet by Wizards of the Coast. This rare blue "Magic: The Gathering" creature card with heroic exiles the top three cards of any player's library whenever it's targeted by a spell you cast and can be sacrificed to counter any spell with the same name as a card exiled by it.

Mindreaver - UU
Creature - Human Wizard (Rare)
Heroic - Whenever you cast a spell that targets Mindreaver, exile the top three cards of target player's library.
UU, Sacrifice Mindreaver: Counter target spell with the same name as a card exiled with Mindreaver

Unlike Grimoire Thief, the cards you exile with Mindreaver are public knowledge. That means your opponent can attempt to play around it. Additionally, Mindreaver's activation cost requires two blue mana instead of just one, and it's toughness lower by one. Mindreaver needs to be targeted by one of your spells for its ability to trigger whereas Grimoire Thief needs only to tap. These factors all contribute to make Mindreaver a slightly weaker card, however with a little help it can still have a devastating effect on the game.

With a Strionic Resonator your Mindreaver will be able to rip through an adversary's library, eating a significant chunk of their deck and quickly makings its activated ability relevant.

How will you use Mindreaver?
