Why are these words rarely associated with business? Strangely enough and rightfully so, every highly succesful business person uses them to their benefits. So what do they mean?
The gist is most people idle with empty thoughts and mull over the same scenario with little aim. It is obvious to anyone who has witnessed any succesful people that they spend some time sorting out their thoughts and have a certain guidance. And why not, mindfulness, awareness and meditation has an important place in business. A well rested mind in full control of its capacities is the result of all three, a recipe for success in business. But what do we mean by mindfulness, awareness and meditation?
According to the New Oxford dictionary, mindfulness is a mental state achieved by focusing one's awareness on the present moment, while calmly acknowledging and accepting one's feelings, thoughts, and bodily sensations, used as a therapeutic technique. Awareness is the quality and capacity to be in the present focus, knowledge or perception of a situation or fact. And meditation has many definitions?
Meditation at its simplest form is withdrawing from the busy world and regroup within. It is a state where one puts aside external stimuli and focuses hers/his mental energies either on a particular topic, or to having no thoughts. All of these allows for a well rested mind, in full control of its capacities, ready to take full advantage opportunities.
