Prince Charles ventured into the realm of British commuters on January 30 when he rode on an Underground train from London's Farringdon Station. It was reportedly the Prince's first "Tube" ride since 1986.
London's Underground system is celebrating is 150th anniversary this year.
Prince Charles, accompanied by his wife Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall, took a mid-winter test ride on a new air-conditioned subway car. Farringdon Station is preparing for its future role as a major rail hub. The east-west Crossrail link, suburban Thameslink trains, and the Underground will all meet at Farringdon, once construction of the Crossrail system is complete.
The royal couple also visited venerable Kings Cross Station, pausing to greet workers and taking a look at fictional Platform 9 3/4, made famous in the Harry Potter film series.
