According to Tuesday's Fox 6 News, a dog in Milwaukee, Wis., was stolen from her yard, burned over most of her body and left for dead.
On March 13, "Beatrice," a five-year-old mixed breed dog, was snatched out of her yard.
Beatrice's guardian, Karen Smith-Burns, described the moment that she knew something was amiss:
The other dog went absolutely crazy, so I ran back to the door and the other dog came in and (Beatrice) was no where to be found,”
For 11 days, Beatrice's whereabouts were a mystery.
On March 24, someone spotted the missing dog and the horror of her time away was readily apparent - she had burns over an estimated 90 percent of her body.
Beatrice was taken to the Milwaukee Emergency Center for Animals...Dr. Lichtenberger had headed up the abused dog's care.
The severity of Beatrice's widespread burns made her recovery questionable - but the friendly, little dog has proven that she is a fighter, who wants to live.
Today, Beatrice is still on pain medication and antibiotics, but her veterinarian believes that she will overcome the massive burns to her body.
Nobody knows who is responsible for Beatrice's injuries - if anyone has information, they are asked to contact the Milwaukee police at 414-933-4444; Animal Fairy Charities is offering a reward for information which leads to the arrest and conviction of Beatrice's abuser.
