The authors of the “Affordable” Care Act” had well over three years to get the kinks out. Yet over 41 months later, the system can be summed up with one work – chaos.
One thing the president can be grateful for is the distraction of the government shutdown. The majority of media outlets are pro-Obama and it gives them a way out of blaring headlines and page-one coverage of something so “innocuous” like a new federal entitlement program that affects 18 percent of the economy.
One can only imagine the uproar of something this big in magnitude basically being swept under the rug if it was a Republican administration. It’s hard to believe George W. Bush hasn’t been singled out as the culprit in this mess.
The government's website www.healthcare.gov has been flooded with 8.6 million visitors according to officials on Friday. The “official” wouldn’t say how many of those 8.6 million actually enrolled according to the New York Times.
It can’t be too many since the screen “visitors” see locks up when it comes to selecting “possible plans.” Website technicians will work all weekend to refine this section and upgrade its capabilities.
Naturally President Obama downplayed this technical catastrophe with his allies at The Associated Press. He asked all Americans to be patient. “The website got overwhelmed by volume. The insurance doesn’t start until January. So they’ll have plenty of time.”
And the framers of Obamacare haven’t already?
House Speaker John Boehner chimed in with a familiar opposition response: "The news that the enrollment system is already going offline confirms that the launch of the president’s healthcare law has been an unmitigated disaster. How can this administration tax individuals for not purchasing a product from a website that doesn’t even work?" he told The Hill.
Even seasoned insurance professionals are having difficulty with the faulty website.
Thomas M. Harte, a New Hampshire insurance broker told The New York Times, "I am president of the National Association of Health Underwriters, and I could not get on the Web site. I have tried more than a dozen times, in the middle of the day and the middle of the night."
Democrats claim the problems emanate from mass interest in the new health care law. They were backed up with the two insurance with the most to gain from Obamacare, Blue Cross and Blue Shield. "We are pleased that enrollment for health care coverage through the new marketplaces is picking up," said their spokesperson.
While the “Blues” beam with delight, smaller insurers have yet to see any new customers, The Associated Press reports.
But tech experts aren’t buy this whistling past the graveyard attitude. The problems go way beyond simple traffic congestion. Meanwhile, idiotic comments continue to slow like water from the Obama White House. "Give us the same slack you give Apple, "chortled a clueless Secretary of Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius to The Washington Post.
Huh?
Contradicting Sebelius’s bizarre comment, The Post’s “Workblog” section says, “The Obama administration badly underestimated the level of interest. The site is badly coded, confusing and crashes a few screens in."
If this is the result of 41-months of planning, what more lies ahead when this massive federal entitlement is enacted January 1, 2014?
There will not be any way the liberal media can hide that day from us.
