On last night's season premiere this Bravo episode of "Millionaire Matchmaker," is titled “The Know-It-All; Bigger Better Berman.”
As the episode begins, Patti and David are dining at Sapori with Kim Kardashian’s best friend, Jonathan Cheban. Patti and Jonathan love to gossip and whenever he is in Los Angeles, they try to catch up. Suspicions are that Jonathan is gay because he loves fashion, so Patti asks him if he could date anyone in Hollywood, who would it be. He asked her if she was profiling him; he then mentioned Jennifer Lopez and Naomi Campbell. She asked him how he was going to find someone if he was traveling around all the time? He told her that Kim even tried to get her to join a dating website, but he refused; however, Patti persisted and told him that she would fix him up as he gulped nervously.
As the day begins, Justin, Marisa and David are discussing their weekend, Patti comes in and tells them that she just met with Jonathan, who they all know as Kim’s best friend. She then tells them how matchmaking is not a job, but a calling. If she does not make a good match, her ass is on the line. They tell her that there is another client named Eric Berman as they view his profile. He is 41, and seems to like the much younger women, like Mila Kunis. Patti finds the negativity in everything he says. She finds him to be arrogant, but has her staff set up an appointment for her to meet him.
At the Warehouse Restaurant, Patti met with Eric and when he handed her a list of the requirements he wanted in a woman, she asked him if he had been to therapy? He is the type that is always looking for the next-best thing, in life, in woman and in everything else. Patti told it to him straight, and although he did not like everything she said, he knew deep down, she was right. Then she gave him the 411 on the mixer and how he would have to choose two women and then just the one he would date, and he agreed.
When she sat with Jonathan, not as a friend, but as a client. She learned that he is truly a Mr. Know-It-All. Now she has to find someone who can deal with the likes of him. Good luck, Patti!
Patti decides to have a black tie mixer for the two guys. Now on to the women. The recruiting day was challenging because of the three new assistants. However, they have to learn to hard way, and deal with Patti’s no-nonsense personality. She started interviewing the women, but she was as hard on the candidates as she was on her staff.
The night of the mixer arrived, and Patti had gowns for them to wear. She told the woman her rule; no sex before monogamy. As they sat around, the woman would be interviewed be the men individually. Jonathan seemed to turn the women off immediately when he asked their profession. Patti took him aside and told him to eliminate the snarky attitude, and then he could see the women in a different light.
As Eric was interviewing each woman, his eyes were wandering towards the other women. Patti took him aside and told him what he was doing. When he focused on the women, he found the one he was sure was the one.
When it was time to choose, Jonathan chose Jenn, and Eric chose Ashley; now on to the dates.
Eric took Ashley to the Del Mar Racetrack where they had a great table overlooking the track. As they got to know each other, Patti’s words rang in Eric’s ears, not to be looking over Ashley’s shoulder for the next-best thing. After the race, they went down to meet the racehorse that Eric is a part owner. The horse’s name was Impeccably, and Ashley loves horses too. After the track, they went to Searsucker a restaurant where Eric had a private dining room just for the two of them. She asked him about Patti giving him a hard time, and he told her that she reprimanded him for always trying to find the next-best thing. He asked her for a second date which she agreed to.
On their date, Jonathan and Jenn met at Aventine where he arrived late. They both love to eat, and it was great fun for them. She admitted that he liked to talk about himself, but she enjoyed listening. Then he told her the instructions that Patti gave him, and started asking her questions about herself. After they ate, he promised to take her to a entirely different venue. They went to Beacher’s Madhouse a completely crazy place, where Jonathan said she would either freak and leave or love him. With little people flying through the air and crazy dancers and circus acts, the place was truly a fun night for both.
When Jonathan came in the next day, Patti scolded him for taking her to such a crazy place on a first date, and testing her. He did not kiss her, but did give her a big hug. When asked if he would do it again; he said yes. Then he told Jonathan that she spoke to her, and she agreed to go out with him again. Jonathan was very happy that he listened to Patti.
Ashley was on the phone telling Patti about their date. Patti wanted to know if he kissed her; which he did not do, making it less of a romantic date. Patti was disappointed that they did not kiss. When Eric came in, he told Patti that he really liked her and their date went well; but Patti was disappointed in him for not even kissing her, he promised to go on another date and to kiss her.
Jonathan is back on the East Coast, and has been talking to Jenn. The hope to see each other when he’s back in L.A.
Ashley has not returned any of Eric’s calls, now he wishes he did kiss her and listened to Patti "The Millionaire Matchmaker."
