The "Million Muslim March" demonstration is set to be held on Sept. 11. The American Muslim Political Action Committee (AMPAC) will be protesting racial profiling in a march on Washington, D.C. According to United Press International on August 20, 2013, the group made a statement.
Muslim and Non Muslim alike were traumatized but we as Muslims continue 12 years later to be victimized by being made the villains.
"Million Muslim March" organizers are protesting anti-Islamic bigotry and President Barak Obama's handling of the investigation of the terrorist attack that occurred 12 years ago. AMPAC tried to change the name of the movement to "Million American March Against Fear," then changed it back when it felt the impact was lessened.
Participants in the "Million Muslim March" hope to demonstrate to America that Muslims are against terrorism. Critics fear that AMPAC is trying to "exploit 9/11." Detractors also said that they would have liked the group to simply choose another day to march.
Regardless the protest will be contentious due to strong beliefs and opinions on each side. This is a great opportunity to show peaceful protest and respect for all sides involved.
