The Las Vegas production of the Tony Award winning musical MILLION DOLLAR QUARTET held its Grand Opening at Harrah's Las Vegas, Tuesday night, February 19. The show is inspired by the true story of the remarkable night that brought Johnny Cash, Jerry Lee Lewis, Carl Perkins and Elvis Presley together for one of the greatest rock ‘n’ roll jam sessions.
The talented cast of actor/singers and musicians performed classic hits that included “Blue Suede Shoes,” “I Walk the Line,” “Great Balls of Fire,”“Sixteen Tons,” “Who Do You Love?,” “Fever,” “Folsom Prison Blues,” “Whole Lotta Shakin’ Goin’ On,” “Hound Dog,” and more'.
Taking the stage as the legendary music icons are Robert Britton Lyons as Carl Perkins, Benjamin D. Hale as Johnny Cash, Martin Kaye as Jerry Lee Lewis, Tyler Hunter as Elvis Presley, Marc D. Donovan as Sam Phillips, and Felice Garcia as Dyanne, Mikey Hachey as Jay Perkins (Bass Player) and Jim Belk as Fluke (Drummer). Director Eric Schaeffer, Musical Director Chuck Mead, and Author Colin Escott were also in the showroom supporting the cast.
Celebrities in attendance included a very pregnant Holly Madison (E Television's Holly's World); Claire Sinclair (2011 Playboy Playmate of the Year); Ricardo Laguna (Professional BMX Rider and MTV Tr3s Personality); Rita Rudner (Comedienne), Jabbawockeez (World Famous Dance Crew); Chef Carla Pellegrino (Owner of Bratalian and Meatball Spot); Kristen Hertzenberg former star of Phantom The Las Vegas Spectacular; comedian/actor Kevin Burke (Defending the Caveman); cast members from the topless revue Fantasy: singer Lorena Peril, comedian/impressionist Sean E. Cooper and two of the dancers; classical guitarist Esteban and his violinist daughter Teresa Joy; Melody Sweets (Absinthe); James Davis (one of the Chippendale dancers); Rick Michel (singer/impressionist), and the Australian Bee Gees.
