Millie is ready for adoption! (Video)

Millie is a young kitten (under 1 year old) at Advocates 4 Animals Rescue in the Dayton/Cincinnati, OH area. She has tested a (WEAK) positive for FeLv (feline leukemia) and needs a home with another FeLv+ cat/kitten or with no other cats. FeLv is NOT contagious to humans, dogs or any other animals. It cannot spread from cat to cat unless they are mating-- and Millie has already been spayed, vaccinated and is a happy, healthy girl.

It is possible and has happened frequently that cats who test a weak positive will later test negative for FeLv-- so it may not be a concern at all.

For those who remain FeLv +, it is NOT a death sentence. These cats can live long, happy, healthy lives!!! What is important to note when sharing your home with a FeLv+ cat or kitten is that if you do have other cats who are negative, you need to keep up on their yearly vaccinations. Also, cleanliness is very important. FeLv+ cats are more likely to catch an illness- and that is what can harm or kill them-- it's not the actual FeLv+ diagnosis.

If you have additonal questions on FeLv+ cats, please contact a local rescue organization in your area and/or your personal family veterinarian.
