On Wednesday, May 28, 2014, The Lutheran Village at MILLER’S GRANT, a planned not-for-profit continuing care retirement community in Ellicott City, MD celebrated the 21st Annual National Senior Health & Fitness Day, established by Mature Market Resource Center.

For this special day, future residents of The Lutheran Village at MILLER’S GRANT organized a nature walk around the site of the planned senior living community to correspond with this year’s theme of “Make a Move Toward Better Health!” Howard County area seniors joined MILLER’S GRANT future residents Susan and Ron Polniaszek as they lead the group through the fields and trails. The approximately two-mile walk, begin in the parking lot of The Lutheran Village at MILLER’S GRANT’s Welcome Center.

James Ko, retired Social Worker expressed excitement with the planned community and looks forward to socially interacting with other residents. Susan Polniaszek recently retired and joyfully expressed that Millers Grant is the model continuing care retirement community for the nation.

Continuing Care Retirement Communities are part independent living, part assisted living and part skilled nursing home, CCRCs offer a multi-level approach to the aging process, and accommodating resident’s changing needs.

Upon entering, healthy adults can reside independently in single-family homes, apartments or condominiums. When assistance with everyday activities becomes necessary, they can move into assisted living or nursing care facilities. These communities give older adults the option to live in one location for the duration of their life, with much of their future care already figured out.

Polniaszek’s advice is “start planning early”.
