It's a beautiful summer day to enjoy a family fun oyster festival. Once again Milford will host one of the most popular seafood festivals in Connecticut on August 17, 2013. The annual Milford Oyster Festival is a free event that will take place in downtown Milford and by the harbor.
From 10am to 6pm crowds will be drawn to the entertainment and food available at this years festival. Food and beverage tents will be located throughout the festival grounds. Over 20,000 oysters from the east coast will be located at Fowler Field and Lisman Landing Harbor Stage.
Featured events will include canoe and kayak races, a car show, and the oyster shucking contest. The first heat of the contest is at 12:15pm, the second heat at 1:15pm. The family driven atmosphere will keep children entertained with arts and crafts, rides, and children's games. The Tall Ship SoundWaters will also be docked at the Milford boat ramp for cruises. The headlining musical entertainment on the main stage this year is Blues Travelers. The show kicks off at 3:45pm.
Parking and shuttle service is free. The shuttle is available until 7pm. Parking is available at the Connecticut Post Mall's rear lot and Jonathan Law High School. Shuttles will provide transportation to and from these parking locations. A map of the events is available online.
