The concert series, which has been held for the past eight consecutive years, is a free event held at the borough's Ann Street Park. In recent years, performers have included The Small Town Sheiks, MiZ, The Tara Minstrels, Heather Maloney and Citizens Band Radio.

This year, the schedule proves to be just as exciting. Kicking off the “spectacular ninth season” in the park on Sunday June 29 – during the famous Milford Music Festival weekend – will be American Idol's Kendall Phillips and Sussex County's own The Hawk Owls!

Phillips has been a country star performing in such venues as the Grand Ole Opry and the Colgate Country Showdown since her stint on 2005's American Idol. Her song, My Heart Belongs in the Poconos, ties the Ohio native to the area.

The Hawk Owls are a bluegrass and old time country band who perform at varying various venues in and around the tri-state area – from The Greeks Tavern in Andover, NJ to Amie Martel's birthday bash in Dingman's.

The free concerts are held every other Sunday from 1PM to 4PM in the park. The rest of the season's lineup is:

July 13 – Jack Tannehill and Midnight Slim
July 27 – Dan Engvaldsen and Paradyme Void
August 10 – Don Lowe and the Juggernaut String Band
August 24 – Carl Ferriere and Dirk Quinn
September 7 – Closer to Home and The New Kings with Peter Florance

If you go:
Where: Ann Street Park, Milford Borough, PA (map)
When: Sundays (see dates above) 1PM to 4PM
Cost: FREE

The free concert is funded by sponsorships, which organizers say are still available for “local businesses and music aficionados”. To help fund the free events, potential sponsors can contact the Music in the Park at or contacting them on Facebook at
