Miley’s revelation: A change of heart?

Coliseum goers were treated to an intimate moment of sorts when Miley Cyrus recently revealed plans for a different musical path going forward. It seems Miley and company lived up to the hype when the US leg of her Bangerz tour finally resumed in Uniondale on Aug. 1. What’s more, opening act, British popster Lilly Allen, experienced one of those “wardrobe malfunctions” on stage. Like they say, oh, what a night.

A change in plans, Bob Dylan and Lucy with diamonds

It seems Miley Cyrus was not comfortable being the reigning queen of blunt-smoking twerkdom. Or perhaps the ex-Hannah Montana child star has matured a bit. Whatever the reason, Billy Ray and Tish’s little girl has grown up before their very eyes and the Nassau Coliseum’s, too. According to Newsday’s Glen Gamboa, Miley told Coliseum attendees that next time, her tour is “going to be more about this,” which was quickly followed by, “This is my favorite part…"

Then, like a seasoned pro, Cyrus reeled off convincing bared down unplugged covers of Bob Dylan’s folkie Blood on the Tracks gem, “You’re Gonna Make Me Lonesome When You Go,” The Smiths’ “There Is a Light That Never Goes Out” and her godmother Dolly Parton’s country classic “Jolene,” among others. That’s not all. The “Party in the USA” singer surprised most with the Beatles psychedelic epic, “Lucy in the Sky With Diamonds.” No doubt, critics will have a hard time making mincemeat of Miley’s music after her Coliseum outing.

A mature Miley and Lilly Allen’s jumpsuit

Naturally, most parents and kids are inclined to keep their favorite child stars children forever. On the flip side, that’s one of the things which make being a child star so difficult. In the case of Miley Cyrus, the transformation from Disney princess to professional entertainer has been highly publicized. She might not have handled the makeover in the best way, but judging by her Nassau Coliseum concert, Cyrus apparently has a grip on things. That could be the reason for Lilly Allen’s clothing mishap.

The sometime Reggae-sounding Londoner was the opener for Cyrus at Friday’s Coliseum Bangerz extravaganza. The showbiz site dailymail.com reports Allen came out in a silvery space age jumpsuit that was unzipped down to her navel. Can you say plunging? It didn’t take long for Allen to suffer boob exposure or as what has come to be known as a wardrobe malfunction. Though Allen is talented, trendy and young, she may have felt something special was needed to upstage Miley. Nevertheless, Miley Cyrus’s Coliseum Bangerz spectacle has jumpstarted her sound. Let’s see if she can follow through.
