Miley’s Bangerz tour: More skin than sound

Miley Cyrus’ over the top twerking extravaganza is set to overrun the Nassau Coliseum next month. But as the blunt smoking popster enters the last leg of her tour, complaints are mounting about the lewd nature of the show. Fans have to wonder, will they see more than they’ll hear of Miley? Does it really matter?

The queen of coarse

What does a purple shark, Abe Lincoln and marijuana leaf medallions have in common? The answer is Miley Cyrus. Throw in some heavy-duty sexual innuendo and lots of skin and you get a racy spectacle, which is exactly what the Bangerz Tour is all about. As bawdy road shows go, Cyrus’ tour is currently the tops, or is it the bottom?

In an article published by the Contra Costa Times on Feb. 25, 2014, “Review: Miley Cyrus disappoints in Oakland,” Jim Harrington described the concert as “full-on razzle-dazzle, pulsating with equal amounts of energy, ambition, personality and mediocre music.”

The key words here are mediocre and music. That’s rarely a winning combination.

She did what during her show?

According to the New York Daily News, during a recent Cyrus show, the former Hannah Montana rode “an oversized hot dog” and “simulated a sex act on a dancer dressed as Bill Clinton…”

Naturally, complaints have been fast and furious. Forbes.com reports ticket prices for the Bangerz Tour have dropped.

The good parts

For those who have been to a Bangerz Tour show, it seems Cyrus’ acoustic set was the best part of the evening. To her credit, she’s reeled off convincing versions of such classics as Dolly Parton’s “Jolene” and Fleetwood Mac’s “Landslide.”

Who, what, where and when
