Miley Cyrus' VMAs performance on Aug. 25 was a major fail. The singer began her stage jaunt by dancing around in an animal leotard (no, not animal print -- an actual animal costume). Thousands of fans watched MTV in horror as Miley performed "We Can't Stop" before joining Robin Thicke in an interesting (but equally terrible) rendition of "Blurred Lines" -- which should have been amazing given his success with it.
Before the show, Miley "promised" that her performance was going to be amazing. In fact, Miley said that her set would be "crazier" than the Madonna/Britney kiss in 2003 -- and in many ways, it was crazier. And not in a good way.
Miley Cyrus' VMAs performance gained tons of support from her fans who were quick to trend "teammiley" almost immediately after the criticism began. It's no surprise really, since Miley's fans are very supportive of her, but a lot of people who were watching her performance couldn't believe what was happening before their eyes.
Miley has gone through some serious changes in her life and it's clear that she's no longer "Hannah Montana" -- and she doesn't want to be... but even still. Her performance was under par and probably not the best for the VMA's... but it happened. And it's over now.
Was Miley Cyrus' VMAs performance too much? Did you like it?
