Although reports say that Selena Gomez found Miley Cyrus’ twerking at the MTV Video Music Awards to be “amazing” and “awesome,” her on stage writhing and groping of Robin Thicke did not please the “Blurred Lines” singer’s mother, according to an Aug. 26, 2013, Cambio report.
On Sunday night, Cyrus stripped down to a latex bra and panties and began dancing around Thicke at the VMAs, bending over in front of him, twerking, and stroking his crotch with a big foam hand.
Gomez said regarding her former Disney star pal when asked about the performance, “Amazing. I thought it was awesome. I like Robin Thicke too, so I like that they [collaborated]. I thought that was good,” reports Perez Hilton.
Thicke’s mother, Gloria Loring, had a different take on the matter, expressing her belief to Omg! Insider that her son should not have collaborated with Cyrus.
“I don’t understand what Miley Cyrus is trying to do… I think she’s misbegotten in this attempt of hers. And I think it was not beneficial. It’s not that I saw it once; it’s that I can’t unsee it.”
Nevertheless, Cyrus’ mother told Gossip David she was “so proud” of her daughter and is “in awe of who she’s become as a performer.”
Then again, Cyrus’ make-believe Hannah Montana mom, Brooke Shields, was not as proud and told the Today show, “I do not approve…”
Shields added, “I just want to know who’s advising her, and why it’s necessary… I mean the whole finger thing and the hand… I feel like it’s a bit desperate.”
But, she also noted, “She went for it… You’ve got to give her some credit…”
