Miley Cyrus' performance during the 2013 VMA awards made quite a stir. The over-the-top, sexually charged, “twerk” fest stunned viewers. It also inspired one online dictionary to add the word “twerk” in their next update, according to an August 28 report from USA Today.
That's right, USA Today reports that Oxford Dictionaries Online (ODO) plans to add the word “twerk” in their next edition
ODO plans to define “twerk” as a verb meaning to “dance to popular music in a sexually provocative manner involving thrusting hip movements and a low, squatting stance.”
While Cryus isn't the first to “twert,” the singer has pushed the word and dance into the forefront with the release of her single “We Can't Stop,” which will be featured on her upcoming album “Bangerz.”
If you haven't had a chance to see Cyrus' VMA “twerk” filled performance, you can watch it on MTV.com. The video may not be suitable for younger viewers.
