Miley Cyrus twerking against 36-year-old Robin Thicke's crotch at the 2013 MTV Video Music Awards occurred on Aug. 25, 2013. Days later, people are still talking about it and not necessarily in a good way. However, on Aug. 29, on her Twitter page, Miley threw out a comeback.
All these ratchet hoes say i ain't sh--t. Well, atleast I ain't broke hoe." #staytrippy @therealjuicyj @BigSean
Miley Cyrus twerking at the VMAs came complete with her entering the stage in a one piece silver fuzzy unitard, covered with a tongue wagging bear, to her stripping to a flesh colored bikini and carrying a large foam finger. As Miley stuck her tongue out at every possible opportunity, she stuck the foam finger in her mouth and pointed it at her privates.
The Miley Cyrus twerking event got a variety of celebrities, newscasters, bloggers and just ordinary citizens calling the spectacle obscene, sexist, and according to Vulture's Jody Rosen on Aug. 26, racist. "Last night, as Cyrus stalked the stage, mugging and twerking, and paused to spank and simulate analingus upon the ass of a thickly set African-American backup dancer, her act tipped over into what we may as well just call racism."
Was the Miley Cyrus twerking event sexist, obscene and racist? Or was it simply the performance of a former Disney star shedding her goody-goody roots to move her body the way she wants?
