Miley Cyrus to perform at Video Music Awards

Miley Cyrus will perform at the Video Music Awards, MTV announced Tuesday.

The show is scheduled to be televised on MTV on Aug. 25 at 9 p.m. ET/8 p.m. CT.

Among other artists scheduled to perform are Lady Gaga, Katy Perry, Kanya West and Robin Thicke.

Also on Tuesday, Cyrus was nominated in a new category, “Best Song of the Summer.” She is nominated for “We Can’t Stop.” Other nominees are Selena Gomez for “Come and Get it,” Robin Thicke for “Blurred Lines,” Calvin Farris for “I Need Your Love” and Daft Punk for “Get Lucky.”

Cyrus’ “We Can’t Stop” is number two on the Billboard 100 this week, trailing Thicke’s “Blurred Lines.”

Cyrus, 20, first achieve fame as the lead actress in Disney’s “Hannah Montana” television series.

She has released three studio albums. Her fourth, “Bangerz,” is scheduled for release in 2013.

Cyrus has had six top-10 singles.

She has won several Kids’ Choice, MTV, People’s Choice and Teen Choice awards.
