"Hannah Montana" star Miley Cyrus is getting some extra promotion in for her new film "The Last Song" -- as a matter of fact, she's getting the story's author in on the act. Popular writer Nicholas Sparks, who also penned "The Notebook" and "Dear John," recently met up with the Disney Channel sensation for a joint publicity session.
Surprisingly, both Cyrus and Sparks were relaxed and willing to joke around with each other. Miley mocked the fact that Sparks doesn't watch "Hannah Montana," which he said was a show popular mainly with his daughters. The popular writer did then go on to discuss the romance genre as a whole:
“A romance novel is supposed to make you escape into a fantasy of romance. What is the purpose of what I do? These are love stories. They went from (Greek tragedies), to Shakespeare’s ‘Romeo and Juliet,’ then Jane Austen did it, put a new human twist on it. Hemingway did it with ‘A Farewell to Arms.’”
Will "The Last Song" succeed on this level? We will have to wait and find out when the movie is released later this month.
