Pop singer Miley Cyrus hosted NBC's "Saturday Night Live" on October 6 and she parodied many aspects of her own life. Cyrus also served as the night's musical guest and performed "We Can't Stop" and "Wrecking Ball" from her new album "Bangerz."

The cold open on "SNL" dealt with life in America 2045. According to cast member Keenan Thompson, America went downhill after Miley Cyrus' controversial performance on the 2013 MTV Video Music Awards. The scene flashed back to moments before Cyrus' big performance where she is confronted by "Hannah Montana" era Miley. "Old Miley" and a few other famous faces warn "New Miley" and her tongue about the disastrous consequences of the performance. The two Miley even perform an old "Hannah" song "I Miss You." During her opening monologue, Cyrus said that she will not twerk because "now that white people are doing it it’s kind of lame." She also said that any "Hannah Montana" skits were off limits because her old Disney character was murdered. (See the video here)

The highlight of the night had to be the parody music video of Cyrus' hit "We Can't Stop," which was applied to the recent government shutdown. Miley played politician Michele Bachmann and cast member Taran Killam took on John Boehner. In the skit called "We Did Stop (The Government)," the Republican party gets down during a wild party while a mock Barack Obama peeks through the curtains. (See the video here)

Cyrus also performed a stirring rendition of "Wrecking Ball" (video) and an acoustic version of "We Can't Stop" (video). For the most part, Miley's time on "SNL" brought in a lot of laughs. Her "Bangerz" album will be released on October 8.
