Miley Cyrus didn't go the obvious route by spoofing Sinead O'Connor on SNL. Instead she ignored her feud with the Irish singer to poke fun at certain members of the GOP in a "We Can't Stop" parody. So at least she went after someone more deserving of ridicule.
According to an Oct. 6 report by MTV News, Miley tweaked the words to her party anthem, and she re-titled it "We Did Stop (The Government)." The video shows gleeful GOP House of Representatives members John Boehner (Taran Killam) and Michele Bachmann (Miley Cyrus) throwing a wild house party as they celebrate the government shutdown.
Miley's new lyrics begin with this brilliant change: "It's our party, we can stop what we want, we can vote how we want, defund what we want." However, she didn't have to alter the "This is our house/ This is our rules" line.
The "We Did Stop" video begins with a very orange Speaker of the House inserting a grill into his mouth, and things just get crazier from there as Congresswoman Michele Bachmann spreads her legs, grabs her crotch, and sticks out her tongue just like Miley. There's a creepy computerized Ronald Reagan face, money flying around everywhere (and even being burned), dancing stuffed elephants, and the words "Out of Twerk" spelled out in alphabet soup. John Boehner also takes a page from Miley by showing off his butt cheeks, twerking, and cuddling with a half-naked man. His portrayal by Taran Killam was pretty spot-on. However, SNL did miss out on parodying Miley's "Wrecking Ball" with a crying Boehner, and Taran wasn't quite orange enough.
Basically the SNL parody compares members of the Republican Party to defiant teenagers, and the result is hilarious. So do you think that Miley scored major points with her government shutdown party?
