Miley Cyrus grew up where? According to Tuesday’s interview posted on www.rollingstone.com, right here in Detroit! Miley will appear on the October 10 cover of the Rolling Stone magazine which hits the newsstands next week.
The singer-actress said that in the summer of 2010, while she was filming the movie “LOL” in the metro Detroit area, she “went through some changes.”
Miley states, “Detroit’s where I felt like I really grew up. It was only for a summer, but that’s where I started going to clubs, where I got my first tattoo. Well, not my first tattoo, but my first without my mom’s consent. I lied to the guy and told him I was 18. I got it on 8 mile! I got a heart on my finger and wore a Band-Aid for two months so my mom wouldn’t find out.”
This scenario is really not that far fetched from most teenagers when they reach a certain point in their lives, trying to exert their independence, but unlike Miley, they do not have the money or freedom that she enjoys. What most teenagers hopefully have in common with Miley, is the love of a parent for their child.
Miley’s father, Billy Ray Cyrus, spoke with Piers Morgan on Thursday, Sept. 19 about his daughter's recent duet with Robin Thicke at the VMA awards. He defended his daughter stating, “She is just re-inventing her sound and really starting to evolve as an artist.”
We all know how important it is for parents and family to support their children and siblings in their endeavors and their passions, especially when they really have talent, and Miley really does have talent, even though she may have crossed a line or two.
Whether you agree or disagree, Billy Ray has shown us the love of a devoted father, one who will stand up for his daughter, no matter what.
One of the best gifts you can give your child is for them to know that you will always be on their side. You may not like all of their decisions, but in their hearts, they will always know the feeling of unconditional love, and that’s a gift that no amount of money can buy.
