Miley Cyrus: I quit smoking cigarettes two months ago and am so proud

Miley Cyrus is proud that she quit smoking two months ago and couldn't be prouder. Cyrus tweeted the following update Feb. 3: "2 months no cigs #proudofmyself."

Miley remained mum about whether she has also abstained from smoking marijuana. In June 2013, Cyrus made headlines after downplaying drugs, saying smoking weed is harmless recreational fun.

"Weed is the best drug on earth. I think alcohol is way more dangerous than marijuana. People can be mad at me for saying that but I don't care. I've seen a lot of people spiral down with alcohol, but I've never seen that happen with weed."

However, Miley insisted she has no interest in harder drugs like cocaine.

"Hollywood is a coke town, but weed is so much better," she said. "And molly, too. Those are happy drugs — social drugs. They make you want to be with friends. I really don't like coke. It's so gross and so dark."

It was just four years ago that Miley (then 17) came under fire after being caught on videotape smoking salvia, a legal hallucinogen, from a bong. When rolled into papers and smoked like a cigarette, chewed, or inhaled from a pipe or bong, salvia users can experience a potent high similar to those induced by marijuana or LSD.

Months after the November 2010 incident, Cyrus said she made a mistake doing salvia. "It was a bad decision because of my fans and because of what I stand for," she said.

While Miley downplayed the incident, her father (singer Billy Ray Cyrus) expressed concern that Miley could end up like the tragic stars Michael Jackson, Kurt Cobain and Anna Nicole Smith, all of whom suffered years of drug addiction and died young.

"I'm scared for her," said Billy Ray. "She's got a lot of people around her that's putting her in a great deal of danger. I want to get her sheltered from the storm."
