Miley Cyrus isn't happy that Sinead O'Connor called her a prostitute. According to an Oct. 3 report by Entertainment Weekly, Miley responded to Sinead's heartfelt open letter by comparing the older singer to another celebrity famous for shaving her head, mentally ill actress Amanda Bynes.
"The music business doesn't give a sh*t about you, or any of us," Sinead wrote to Miley. "They will prostitute you for all you are worth, and cleverly make you think it's what YOU wanted... and when you end up in rehab as a result of being prostituted." She also criticized Miley for getting naked and licking sledgehammers in her "Wrecking Ball" video.
Sinead O'Connor has a very valid reason for criticizing Miley Cyrus since the former "Hannah Montana" star referenced the Irish singer's "Nothing Compares 2 U" music video. However, Sinead didn't pair her crying closeup with scenes that showed her getting naked and suggestively licking things.
Instead of responding to Sinead's advice and criticism by apologizing for ripping off "Nothing Compares 2 U" in such a vulgar way, Miley mocked her by tweeting, "Before Amanda Bynes…. There was…." She then displayed a screengrab of what appeared to be tweets by Sinead asking her followers for help finding a psychiatrist.
A rep for Sinead claims that the singer doesn't tweet, but her mental issues are no secret -- she revealed that she suffers from bipolar disorder during an interview with Oprah. It's been reported that Amanda Bynes also suffers from bipolar disorder and schizophrenia. So basically Miley is using mental illness to insult other women.
Mental illness is no joke since it can lead to terrible emotional pain and even suicide, so Miley's tweet is sad and sickening. The pop star wants the world to know that she's all grown up, so perhaps she should have responded to Sinead's criticism like an adult instead of using such a childish, stupid insult. If Miley wants to keep making headlines by being controversial, perhaps she should stick to twerking, getting topless, and sticking her tongue out.
