Miley Cyrus breaks her silence on Tish and Billy Ray Cyrus' divorce

Miley Cyrus speaks out for the first time on her parents’ divorce in an exclusive interview in the March issue of Marie Claire magazine.

Until now, Miley has said very little publicly about her parent’s, Tish and Billy Ray Cyrus’ pending divorce.

Most of what we have heard regarding Miley’s feelings about her parent’s marital problems, has come from people close to Miley who have given statements to the press in Miley’s behalf.

What Miley Cyrus Said in Marie Claire about Her Parents’ Divorce

In Miley Cyrus’ interview with Kimberly Cutter, which accompanies a fashion layout in the March issue of Marie Claire magazine, Miley, herself, spoke very briefly about Tish and Billy Ray Cyrus upcoming divorce.

This is what Miley had to say:.

“Of course anyone is going to be upset when there are troubles in their family, but I have a lot of hope in our family, and no matter what happens, we’re gonna stay strong”

From the very beginning, when reports of the Cyrus divorce first began to surface, Miley refused to take sides either parent, and expressed her concern for her younger sister, Noah.

That’s still her position today.

Miley Cyrus is a very private person when it comes to discussing her family, but commenting further in her Marie Claire interview, Miley has this to say:

“I just want my mom to be happy and my dad to be happy and most of all, my little sister to be happy.

Miley's Initial Reaction to Her Parents' Divorce

Shortly before Miley’s 18th birthday last November, she learned that her father, Billy Ray Cyrus had filed for divorce from Tish Cyrus, his wife of 13 years. That’s still Miley’s position today.

Closely following on the heels of denials from both Bret Michaels and Tish Cyrus, were rumors that the divorce was due to ongoing arguments and disagreements between Miley’s parents about how to discipline Miley because of her increasingly wild behavior.

In fact, in a recent interview by Miley’s father, Billy Ray Cyrus, for GQ magazine, he says that Miley’s starring role in the Disney Channel’s Hannah Montana series, was what ultimately broke up his family and led to his divorce. Miley’s Behavior Takes a Scandalous Turn

The closer Miley got to her 18th birthday, the more vigorously she began to shed her squeaky clean Hannah Montana persona in favor of a more mature, more controversial image, and her behavior began to spiral out of control. See slideshow with pictures of Miley Cyrus by clicking here and here.

Miley’s clothing became more revealing and more seductive, her on-stage performances more sexually charged, and her day-to-day behavior more inappropriate for a teen star whose fame was built on a fan base consisting primarily young girls 9 to 15 years of age. And while some of Miley’s behavior can be attributed to “just growing up,” at least one prominent psychologist said much of Miley’s rebelliousness was her way of acting so she could get her parents back together again.
