France has banned the Miley Cyrus "Wrecking Ball" video and the Britney Spears "Work B-tch" video from being shown on television before 10 p.m. According to a Jan. 10 article on Huffington Post, the Conseil supérieur de l'audiovisuel (CSA) has made the determination due to racy content not suitable for children..

Cyrus was reportedly too sexually explicit as she sat naked on construction swings, and Spears incorporated bondage in her video which could be shocking to children. There was also concern about the portrayal of women in the Spears video.

The French people are rarely described as prudish, but then again, Miley Cyrus has been widely criticized from every side for her vulgar performances of late which incorporate the new and controversial fad of “twerking.”

It remains to be seen whether youth will be impacted by the increasing sight and knowledge of sexually explicit material such as they have been in recent years.
