Miley Cyrus' new music video “Wrecking Ball” made history today (Sept. 10) as it surpassed One Direction's most-viewed VEVO record in a 24-hour period. While the record-breaking début is remarkable, Miley showed runic emotion in the video which left many viewers questioning if the tears were genuine or fake.
The music video starts with Miley shedding tears in what appears to be an emotional ploy with the viewing audience but the ad hominem actually detracts from the vocal performance.
The song itself is deserving of accolades while Miley's voice is amazing, according to social media accounts. Her raw emotions (tears and anger) are an added plus to the quality of the song.
Subsequently sources are leaking that it could be the thought of her off-and-on again relationship with Liam Hemsworth that allowed her tears to flow so easily, ergo the emotional close-up appears so authentic.
The video of Miley swinging naked on a wrecking ball had viewers take to twitter to express their concerns, many of whom believe she hit a new low for popularity gain. Others believe she may be a business genius.
Miley, 20, is legally old enough to give consent to naked scenes.
Well played, Miley. Well played.
