Miley and Billy Ray Cyrus are daddy and daughter again - communication's the key - National celebrity infidelity

Billy Ray Cyrus and his superstar daughter Miley Cyrus are back on speaking terms with each other.

This week Billy Ray told the ladies of The View that he and Miley had gotten their derailed father/daughter relationship back on track.

For the dad and daughter who were at odds with each other just a few weeks ago, communication proved to be the key.

Billy Ray says that over the past few days he and Miley have laughed a lot, and are communicating with each other in a way that they haven’t done in quite a while.

Why Miley Was Angry with Billy Ray

Just a few weeks ago, Miley Cyrus was furious with her father for remarks he made in a recent interview with GQ magazine.

In the interview, Billy Ray made some highly controversial statements about the negative effect that Miley’s role in Disney’s Hannah Montana series had on his family. See Billy Ray Cyrus Says Miley Cyrus’ Hannah Montana Role Destroyed Their Family

Angry and upset, Miley took exception to his remarks and accused Billy Ray of publicly airing the family’s dirty laundry. Coping with rumors of her mother’s infidelity, and speculation that her successful career contributed to her parents’ divorce, for Miley, Billy Ray’s GQ interview was probably the last straw. Miley stopped speaking to the father with whom she was always so close, and refused to take his calls.

A Protective Father Worried about His Daughter’s Well Being

Billy Ray Cyrus takes his role as Miley’s father very seriously.

In his GQ interview, Billy Ray also voiced his concern over some of Miley’s recent scandalous behavior and questioned some of the career decisions made by Miley’s handlers, and the motives of some of the people Miley has been associating with. “I’m scared for her, “ he confessed. “I know she’s 18, but I still feel like as her daddy, I’d like to try to help. Take care of her just a little bit, to at least get her out of danger.” Because as Billy Ray put it, “That’s what daddies do.”

Billy Ray told GQ reporter, Chris Heath, that he’d heard some talk about some photos or videos of Miley that her handlers were “trying to make disappear.”

When he inquired as to what was going on, Billy Ray said he was told by one of Miley’s handlers, “It’s none of your business,” and asked him to bow out.

I’m her daddy, he told Heath. “I was pretty damn insulted.”

“There’s a train wreck happening and my daughter’s right in the middle of it,” said Billy Ray, adding that he was only trying to shelter Miley from the storm

As a caring and protective father, no doubt Billy Ray was also concerned that for the second year in a row Miley Cyrus was voted Worst Celebrity Teen Role Model in an AOL survey of approximately 100,000 girls between the ages of 9 and 15. Billy Ray, who has always had a very close relationship with Miley, wondered if he should have been more of a parent to Miley, rather than a friend.

Billy Ray Cancels TV’s Appearances at Miley’s Request

In the wake of all the controversy he stirred up with his GQ interview, Billy Ray was scheduled to appear on The View and several other TV talk shows last month.

When Miley found out about it, she expressed her concern that Billy Ray might be coaxed into saying something else to embarrass the family, by the inquisitive ladies on The View.

Unwilling to risk further alienating interviewBilly Ray said "My family is the most important thing I have, and we are working together to make sure our future is stronger and healthier."

The second time around, Miley apparently approved of Billy Ray’s appearance on the The View. Especially since while on the show, he announced that he was cancelling his divorce, and defended Miley against false accusations of being drunk.

Daddy and Daughter Again

Now that Miley and Billy Ray Cyrus are on speaking terms again, Billy Ray describes their relationship as “the best its ever been.”

Speaking of the reconciliation between himself and his daughter, Billy Ray said.

"I feel like I got my Miley back. I feel like we're the daddy and daughter we were before Hannah Montana.”
