Miles City has the historic Range Riders Museum and the annual bucking horse sale which dates back to the era of the cowboy, but it will not host the Montana Cowboy Hall of Fame.
Thursday Miles City Chamber Executive Director John Laney announced Miles City has withdrawn the city's to become the new home of the Montana Cowboy Hall of Fame which is currently in Wolf Point. Laney cited concerns that existing local attractions and businesses would become competitors rather than collaborators with the Cowboy Hall of fame.

During the conference, Laney emphasized that existing community programs including the Range Riders Museum and the Custer County Arts and Heritage Center are important anchor tenant on the west side of Miles City. He also said that it was disappointing to find that it was in the best interests of the city to take themselves out of the running for the Montana Cowboy Hall of Fame, it also brought to light how important the existing programs are and it may lead to an opportunity to invest in more support to those facilities.
