Low pressure will gather strength across the Plains today, then track northeastward toward the Great Lakes tonight. A strong southerly flow ahead of this storm system will pump mild air and deeper moisture northeast into Ohio through tonight.
For today, it will be mostly cloudy with a chance of a shower or two. Highs will reach the mid to upper 50s. Winds S to SE 5-10 mph.
Tonight will be cloudy and mild with a chance of showers. Temperatures will fall to around 50 early, then slowly rise after midnight. Winds S 10-15 mph.
On Thursday, the storm system will reach the Great Lakes. A cold front associated with this system will move eastward across the area during the morning. Showers a likely on Thursday with temperatures rising to the mid 50s during the morning, then falling through the 40s during the afternoon. Winds S becoming W 10-20 mph.
The cold front will slowly settle to our south Thursday night and colder air will gradually spill southward across the area. Rain will persist through the evening, then gradually mix with or change to snow after midnight. Lows will fall to around 30 degrees.
On Friday, a wave of low pressure will slide along the front to our south. Snow is likely on Friday, especially across the south and east where some accumulation is expected. Snow could remain mixed with sleet or rain near and south of route 30. Highs on Friday will reach the low to mid 30s.
Looking ahead: Snow will gradually taper off Friday night. Lows will be around 20.
High pressure will build across the area on Saturday. It will be partly sunny with highs in the mid to upper 20s.
It will be partly cloudy Saturday night with lows in the teens.
On Sunday, clouds will quickly increase ahead of another storm moving toward the area from the southwest. Snow is expected to develop during the afternoon. Highs on Sunday will be in the low 30s.
A mixed bag of wintry weather is expected Sunday night and Monday as the storm system moves across the state. Lows Sunday night will be in the upper 20s with highs on Monday reaching the mid 30s.
