1884 - A low temperature of -47° occurred at Republic.

1938 - The blizzard of 1938 began across the U.P. with heavy snowfall bringing traffic and rail traffic to a halt for a few days. There were 12 foot snowdrifts in Ironwood with students trapped at school for 4 days. Many workers were trapped at work and people had to get out of their homes out of the second story windows in the U.P. In Marquette, the brand new WBEO radio tower had the top half come down and knocked the old radio tower out as well as knocked the radio station off the air.

1979 - Snow cover reached a depth of 60 inches in Delaware.

1963 - Detroit had a high temperature of and a low temperature of -13°, which equates to a very cold day! Flint also observed a record low of -13° and a record low maximum of . Lansing also sees a record cold high of only .

1967 - A huge storm is gathering over the Plains States. Out ahead of it, strong southerly breezes bring record warmth to Lower Michigan. Lansing soars to 66°, the warmest on record for the month of January. Other daily records include Grand Rapids with 62°, Muskegon 59°, Flint 5, and Houghton Lake 4.

1997 - Record daily snowfall of 7.8 inches fell at Weather Forecast Office Marquette.
