Mikkeller Bar opening in San Francisco

The San Francisco beer scene keeps on getting better.

Coming later this year is Mikkeller Bar - opening at 34 Mason Street, only a block or two away from Powell BART and Union Square.

Here's the low down from the bar's Facebook page:

We will feature 40 taps from the best breweries in the world, 2 cask handles, specialized bottle selection and exclusive house beers. All meticulously chosen, well cared for and properly served.

Our cellar will host a “sour room” where you will find the best Lambic and sour beer produced in the world.

We are building a full kitchen and will feature great food prepared to pair well with our beer.

It is our goal to create the finest Beer Bar in the world!

Not familiar with Mikkeller? Time to learn.

Mikkeller is a gypsy brewery founded in Denmark in 2006. The "gypsy" factor means they brew at other breweries' facilities which allows Mikkeller to brew many one-offs and experimental beers. Mikkeller has received many accolades for their beer, including winning Danish Brewery of the Year in 2006, 2008 and 2009.

If you're thirsty for some Mikkeller beer now, think about heading to the Trappist Provisions in Rockridge. They've got a great selection in bottle, and some on tap.
