I ran into Mikey Knuckles at an event recently and just had to ask him a few questions! Mikey is an experienced bodyguard and head of security at Trackateering Music, an indie label run by Italian-American hip-hop artist, G Fella. Mikey is also a castmember on the popular reality series G-Thing on Fuse TV. The show follows G Fella's grind as he tries to take Trackateering Music to the next level, and features his supportive, sometimes crazy, always entertaining, family and friends. You can watch G-Thing on Saturdays at 11 p.m. EST on Fuse TV, and let Fuse know that you want a second season! Behind-the-scenes clips and more information on the show can be found at www.Fuse.TV/shows/G-Thing.
BROWNIE MARIE: Mikey Knuckles! I'm so happy to meet you! You seem like a nice guy... even though you look very intimidating and you're the enforcer.
MIKEY KNUCKLES: Well that's my job, plain and simple. I'm a bodyguard; I'm not supposed to look like Santa Claus, you know? But when I'm not working, I like to go have a good time like everybody else. I think I'm a nice guy.
And how do you like to kick back and relax?
Hang out with my friends, have a few drinks... try to stay low-key, not get into trouble. Which is not easy for me half the time, you know. Trouble usually has a habit of finding me. But I like to come out, hang out with some nice people, grab a couple of cocktails. I try to keep it calm.
You said you've been watching G-Thing. What's it like watching yourself on television?
It takes getting used to; I'm not gonna lie. I'm not a TV star, I'm not a television [personality], or an actor. I spent most of my life as a bodyguard, so I try to avoid cameras. Now it's a little weird, a little surreal. You walk around [and] people know who you are: "Hey, I've seen you on TV, I'm a fan!" And they want an autograph and I'm like "Why? Why would you want my autograph? I'm just me." But it's cool, I'm not gonna lie. It's fun.
Can we look forward to more episodes? Another season?
I think so. They haven't told us nothing yet. You know how that works... we're the cast, we're the last to find out everything. But so far, from what my understanding is: The ratings have been doing really well, we've got a lot of social media, a lot of talk, very little negative feedback-- so I don't see how they can deny us a second season. We're the craziest group of Italians you're going to find on television! So with that, I definitely see a second season coming up.
What else is going on with Trackateering Music?
We're still pushing all the music with G Fella. His single ["Got A Guy"] just dropped; they can go to GFella.com, they can go to Amazon, iTunes. We've got a few things lined up over the winter-- some shows and [other] things like that. Hopefully before Christmas we'll know whether we're doing a second season or not, and we'll get it started from there. It will just be another crazy a** year.
