Plus-size model, Mikel Ruffinelli, '39', is said to have the worlds largest hips. She is 5'4, weighs in at 420 pounds and has a hip circumference of over 8 feet.
The happily, married mother of four is proud and perfectly comfortable with her size despite the struggles it causes in her every day life. She has to sleep in a 7 foot wide bed and her chairs at home are steel supported.
In an interview with the UK online magazine, Closer, Ruffinelli said people automatically assume she had her shape enhanced by surgery, but her shape is from having her children and that large hips run in her family.
"When I travel by plane or train, I have to buy two seats because I can't fit into one. It gets quite expensive," she said. "I drive a truck rather than using public transportation whenever possible, because it's big enough to fit all of me. Going through tight spaces is sometimes a problem for me and I have to go through doorways sideways."
Ruffinelli gets a lot of attention because of her size, both positive and negative. She says when she walks down the street she can hear people laughing at her, making comments and the shutter of pictures being snapped.
Her husband of ten years, Reggie Brooks says he loves her curves. Ruffinelli says they have an amazing time in bed and there is nothing they can't do.
The couple have three children together and Ruffinelli has a son from another relationship. She says after having her first son Andrew is when she started to gain more weight.
"I love her shape, but it was her personality that first attracted me. She has a sweet disposition," Brooks said.
Ruffinelli used to be self-conscious about her hips, but says as she got older learned to love herself the way she is and is "not afraid to show it off."
"He tells me I am beautiful every day. I see no reason to diet because I don't have health problems. Men don't fancy skinny girls, they like an hourglass figure," she said.
She also said she was a normal size when she was younger and her heaviest weight in her 20's was 180 pounds. She also has no plans to have surgery to lose any of her weigh.
