Mike Tindall's England rugby career ends again with Six Nations rejection

Mike Tindall has been removed from the England squad again, it was reported this New Year's Day. According to “The Daily Mail,” the expulsion will be final on January 10 with the Six Nations squad is announced, without Mike's name on it.

Last year Mike Tindall hit headlines twice, once for his wedding with Zara Phillips, the Queen's eldest granddaughter, and again for a scandal in which he was caught in lies and too-close contact with an old flame. The Rugby Football Union first fired him from the elite England squad and gave him a hefty fine, then reinstated him and reduced the fine on appeal. But it was always possible that Tindall wouldn't make the Six Nations team, and that has indeed come to pass. (Continue reading below.)

One option the player has to save face is to officially retire before the 10th; it's an option he is said to be considering. But everyone is still going to remember how it all came about, and this would be simply giving in gracefully. According to reports, Mike had wanted the Six Nations game so he could end his career on a high, rather than a sheepish and compromised, note.

Alas, it does not seem as if this will come to pass for Mike Tindall.
