Following a concussion in training, Mike Swick has had to be pulled from his upcoming fight against Martin Kampmann. His replacement is the heavy hitting UK fighter Paul 'Semtex' Daley. Missing the bout, which was a welterweight title eliminator will probably hamper Swicks ambition of getting a title shot before the end of the year.
Swick commented on the incident on his twitter account:
“I am out of UFC 103,” he wrote. “It sucks, and I am sorry guys. I got foot swept while sparring this week and lost my legs. Landed on back of my head and neck and suffered a pretty bad concussion.”
The new bout will probably not be a title eliminator seen as 'Semtex' is making his debut and hasnt had a chance to put together a run of wins yet. Either way the fight should still be interesting however, Paul Daley is hard hitting and ends most of his fights by KO. Whether he has enough to beat Kampmann right off the bat is unlikely, he will be giving up a fair bit of both size and technique on the night. Then again he does only need that one big punch to end the fight. Hoepfully somewhere down the line Semtex is paired up with Phil Baroni, which would make for an excellent (if probably short) fight.
