Mike Portnoy and Adrenaline Mob to make first Long Island appearance

On March 13, heavy metal supergroup Adrenaline Mob will celebrate the release of their debut album Omertà with an autograph session and meet-and-greet at Looney Tunes in West Babylon, New York.

Since his departure from Long Island-based progressive metal legends Dream Theater in September 2010, drummer Mike Portnoy has gone on to participate in a number of various projects, including, amongst other things, performing with Avenged Sevenfold as a touring drummer, re-uniting his Beatles cover band “Yellow Matter Custard” and forming the progressive rock supergroup “Flying Colors."

Amidst all of this activity, Portnoy has also somehow found the time to write, record and tour with Adrenaline Mob, a classic heavy metal style band consisting of Portnoy on drums, Russell Allen of Symphony X on vocals, rising star guitarist Mike Orlando, and Disturbed’s John Moyer on bass, who just joined the band earlier this month.

The band first got together last summer, releasing a self-titled 5-track EP and performing their first ever show at the Hiro Ballroom in Manhattan, which they followed up with a short tour opening for Godsmack.  They have since recorded their first full-length album, entitled Omertà, which is slated for release on March 13.

Despite the resumes of the members of Adrenaline Mob, fans of Dream Theater, Symphony X and Disturbed should not expect anything like what they’re used to from the bands they already know so well.  Adrenaline Mob is pure heavy metal, showing no signs of the progressive elements that are the signatures of Dream Theater and Symphony X, and trading the more rhythmic sounds of Disturbed for a more groove-based sound harkening back to Dio-era Black Sabbath.

While all of the band members make their own important contributions, the aspect that truly makes this band shine is the incredibly raw, powerful vocals of Russell Allen.  Generally considered one of the premiere vocalists on the metal scene, with Adrenaline Mob, Allen is given the chance to unleash like never before, and it is something that must be experienced first-hand to be fully appreciated.

Adrenaline Mob will preview music from Omertà at the Hiro Ballroom in Manhattan on March 12, followed by an in-store appearance at Looney Tunes in Babylon on March 13, where the band will be meeting with fans and signing autographs.

The first single from Omertà, “Undaunted”, is available now through the band’s website.
