Mike Connolly pitches well in Black Bears loss to Miami

Mike Connolly pitched a solid game for the University of Maine Black Bears Tuesday evening in a losing effort against one of the powerhouse baseball teams in the country.

The University of Miami Hurricanes scored two unearned runs against Connolly and scored four runs in the sixth inning off the Black Bears bullpen.

Connolly allowed four hits and three walks in 5.2 innings as the Black Bears fell 6-2 at Coral Gables, Florida.

Brian Doran hit a triple and scored one run for Maine. Sam Balzano, Colin Gay, Eric White and Troy Black each had one hit for the Black Bears.

Scott Heath and White each had one RBI.

Maine (6-7) will play the next four games at Port Charlotte, Florida. That stretch will start with a 5 p.m. game Wednesday against Western Michigan.
