The former WEC batamweight champion, and a fixture on the pound-for-pound list for several years, posted on his Facebook page that he will be a part of the upcoming World Series of Fighting 6, which takes place on Oct. 26. An opponent was not named.
So far, Miguel Torres has fought just once for the organization, losing a split decision to Marlon Moraes, in their inaugural outing. He signed a three fight deal with the Las Vegas-based promotion before that event was held.
WSOF 6 takes place in Coral Gables, Fla., at the Bank United Center. The main event on that evening features Josh Burkman and Steve Carl squaring off for the welterweight championship. As usual, the main card will be seen on NBC Sports, while the undercard action will be shown on Sherdog.com
The loss to Moraes in Nov. 2012 was the first fight for Miguel Torres since being released by the UFC. He had competed under the Zuffa banner since 2007, becoming one of the top ranked fighters in the world. Once the WEC merged with the UFC, he was somewhat less successful, however. Compiling a 2-2 record in the UFC, his last fight resulted in a knockout loss to Michael McDonald in the first round.
