According to an article Sunday on ProMMAInsider.com, Miguel Torres announced a couple days ago that he would be competing at WSOF 6, but it was not mentioned who he would be fighting. That question has now been answered.
World Series of Fighting officials announced on Saturday that Torres would be taking on Pablo Alfonso at WSOF 6 which takes place on Oct. 26 in Coral Gables, Fla. The main event that evening will feature welterweights Josh Burkman and Steve Carl in a clash for the promotion's title. The main card can be seen on NBC Sports, and the prelims will be shown on Sherdog.com.
Alfonso has most recently competed in Championship Fighting Alliance. In his last fight, in January, he submitted Shah Bobonis in the first round with a rear-naked choke. In fact, all eight of his victories as a pro have ended by either submission or knockout. He has also dropped five contests, with notable losses to Chase Beebe and Pedro Munhoz.
Miguel Torres last competed at WSOF 1, losing a split decision to Marlon Moraes. It was the first time he had competed outside of the Zuffa owned UFC and WEC since 2007. His last fight for the UFC was a knockout loss to Michael McDonald, which brought an end to his run in that promotion. Following his release, he was signed by the World Series of Fighting before they held their inaugural event.
