In that epic 2012 matchup, Rousey defeated Tate in the opening stanza via arm bar, dislocating Tate’s left arm at the elbow.
The rivalry has only gotten more intense since then, and it will culminate with Rousey and Tate coaching opposite each other on the upcoming season of the UFC reality series The Ultimate Fighter.
Rousey and Tate will rematch at UFC 168 later this year in Las Vegas.
“Being that the fight with Miesha is the one in front of me than I’m going to treat it like it’s the hardest fight in the world,” said Rousey during a question and answer session prior to the UFC Fight Night 26 official weigh-ins. “I’m not really putting any thoughts about anybody else in my head right now.
"They’re kind of saying, oh, Ronda’s no good after the first round, or the first minute. They’re crossing their fingers and hoping that whatever they don’t know about my game is bad. I’m assuming that Miesha fixed all the holes that I saw in her game last time and she’s going to be like the best version of her that ever happened."
The rivalry between Tate and Rousey has gotten so intense that even their siblings have gotten involved. Felicia Martin, Miesha Tate's little sister, was recently spotted flipping the bird at a Ronda Rousey cardboard standee in Washington.
Rousey's cousin, Jessica Bueler, is also in on the rivalry, as she runs the star judoka's official Twitter fan page, @ArmbarNation.
Martin thinks Tate will come away victorious at UFC 168.
"I'd love to see a roundhouse kick to the face to knock Rousey out, but submitting her with an arm bar would also be very pleasing to watch!" Martin said regarding the Tate vs Rousey bout.
