Riverside County's Ronda Rousey will coach against Miesha Tate in Season 18 of The Ultimate Fighter. This will be the first time that The Ultimate Fighter will feature female coaches on the show. In addition to female coaches, female fighters will be featured on the show for the first time in addition to the male fighters who will be on the show.
Ronda Rousey is a bronze medalist in Olympic judo. She is 7-0 as a professional Mixed Martial Arts fighter, and she has beaten every single one of her opponents in the very first round. She has beaten five of her seven opponents in less than one minute of the first round.
Miesha Tate is a former Strikeforce champion. She has beaten top fighters such as Marloes Coenen, Julie Kedzie, and Zoila Gurgel. Besides UFC fighter Liz Carmouche, Tate is the only fighter who has lasted more than four minutes against Ronda Rousey.
TUF 18 will feature male and female fighters in the 135-pound weight class. The bantamweights will be divided into two teams, one team coached by Rousey and one team coached by Tate. Female fighters will be competing against each other, and male fighters will be competing against each other. The fighters will be competing in the hopes of winning a contract with the UFC. At the conclusion of the show, Rousey and Tate will fight for the second time for the UFC women’s championship.
TUF 18 will air Wednesday, September 4 at 7PM PT on Fox Sports 1.
