Midland Animal Shelter 'code red' for terrified young pittie mix: Rescue only

At the Texas Midland Animal Shelter, dogs that may have any pit bull physical traits are limited to being released only to reputable pet rescue organizations. And so, a young, terrified male pooch sits in Kennel 31, staring out at the world, that volunteers state most likely has ever afforded him few gentle acts of kindness.

This little heartbroken dog will need specialized care; one volunteer tells the story of this youngster being aggressive as the Animal Control officers tried to get him into the kennel. Yet, a visit from a volunteer on Friday, elicited a spark of hope:

"I got him to come to the fence and take treats from me on Friday. He was very gentle, but very scared. He is young too. I would say one to two judging from the teeth I could see."
