Around 7:15 this morning, Pacific Time, there was a shooting that occurred at Sparks Middle School in Sparks, Nevada. According to a report made by USA Today which was published on October 21, a male student pulled out a gun and aimed it at a teacher. When the teacher told the student to put the gun down, he fired a shot. The teacher fell to the ground and the students started running. According to the report, the teacher who was fatally shot was a popular Math teacher and was killed trying to protect the students.
The spokeswoman for Renown Regional Hospital in Nevada stated that they received two male students who were shot and they were both in critical condition. However, later on their conditions were upgraded to one fair and one good condition. The two who were killed during the shooting was the Math teacher who the student shot and the shooter himself once he turned the gun on himself.
Apparently, another student saw the shooter before it happened and heard him say, "Why you people making fun of me, why you laughing at me?"
Some students ran into the hall and made a pile to protect themselves. The boys were on top trying to protect the girls. The student who was doing the shooting aimed the gun at the pile but was then distracted by a teacher so he started shooting in a different direction.
This is a very sad day for students, parents, and teachers at the school and in this city in Nevada. However, during a press release after the shooting happened, the police have reassured everyone that they are safe, the students as well as the teachers and parents. They have reassured everyone that the schools are safe as well as the whole city.
