Yesterday, Columbus’ own Mid-Ohio-Con launched their second online auction with proceeds to benefit the Hero Initiative. Forty items have been listed on eBay, from original art by some of the biggest names in the industry to custom bound collections and biographies of comic book legends.

From James Henry, owner and founder of Mid-Ohio-Con:

The auction features original art and other work from our creative guests at Mid-Ohio-Con 2009, many of whom made incredibly generous contributions. Of particular note, the auction includes all the giant sketches (19" x 24") done by artists on the Main Stage easel during last October's show. The main-stage sketches were a big hit at our inaugural charity auction in 2008, so we're looking forward to an enthusiastic response to this year's batch.

Mid-Ohio-Con has already raised almost $600 dollars for The Hero Initiative, with almost a week left in the individual auctions. The Hero Initiative helps comic book professionals with financial aid during times of trouble. Since most comic book creators continue to be freelancers, when disaster strikes, whether that be an illness, theft or act of God, The Hero Initiative assists those creators and their families to get back on their feet.

You can see all the individual auctions on Mid-Ohio-Con’s eBay page, and check back here often throughout the week for updates.

Mid-Ohio-Con 2010 takes place November 6-7 at the Columbus Convention Center.
