"Dirty" Dick Slater, long a staple in the Mid-Atlantic and Florida wrestling areas has been arrested on a warrant for failure to appear on a petty theft charge. Slater was arrested by police early Sunday morning in Pinellas County, FL after failing to appear in court to answer charges of petty theft. According to police Slater was arrested on February 5, 2013 and scheduled to appear in court on February 25, 2013 but did not show and a warrant was issued for his arrest.
Slater has been arrested at least seven times according to reports with one incident involving a former girlfriend he was convicted of stabbing in 2004.
Slater has lived difficult life dealing with injury, drug and alcohol addiction and has fallen on hard times since he had to retire from the ring in 2003 due to chronic back problems.
Mid-South Wrestling was where Slater became something of a legend in the annuals of professional wrestling when he beat up a fairly new to the business Sting after Sting allegedly slept with Dark Journey who was the then girlfriend of Slater.
Slater is being held on $2000 bond in the Pinellas County Jail.
